Run, jump, slide, and shoot with the Omni One

Virtuix is now a well-established name in the VR landscape. The Virtuix Omni proved to be a huge success in entertainment centres and virtual reality arcades around the world. Since the user is fully strapped into the harness, there's hardly any chance of the player injuring themselves. On the Virtuix Omni, you can run as fast as you want, the smooth octagonal surface ensures you stand securely on the device while you shoot forward in the virtual world.

Renewed Design

While the Virtuix Omni primarily focused on the commercial market (VR arcades), they are soon launching a new product aimed more at consumers and home use. The Omni One, as the product will be called, is also a 360-degree treadmill for VR, with the biggest difference being that the player is no longer stuck in a ring around themselves but straps into a vest instead. This vest ensures that the player can move safely in all directions without the risk of falling off or running off the device. Moreover, the vest is attached only to an arm that can also move up and down. This allows for jumping and crawling on the virtual treadmill if the game requires it.

The Omni One has almost the same base as the Virtuix Omni treadmill. An octagonal tub that slopes inward. The player puts on special shoes when stepping onto the Omni One. These shoes glide smoothly over the tub, giving the sensation of running naturally. The shoes have a tracker for the left and right foot, which records the speed of running and transmits it to the virtual world.

Enhanced Hardware

The first product photos of the Omni One present the product as if it were a sleek device that wouldn't be out of place in a man cave. The device is almost entirely black and has a footprint of only 1.2 meters in diameter. Moreover, the Omni One can be used with standalone all-in-one VR headsets, such as Meta Quest 2 and Pico 4. This means that it is no longer necessary to connect a powerful PC to the Omni One, which was required with the original Virtuix Omni treadmill. Additionally, it is of course a significant advantage that the headset no longer needs to be connected to the PC via a cable, as this could cause conflicts while running.

At the time of launch, Virtuix promises that more than 30 games will be available for the Omni One. It is not yet clear whether these are games that were released earlier or if they are newly developed games specifically for the Omni One treadmill.

The Omni One will initially be launched in America. It is expected to hit the market in 2023. It is not yet known if and when the Omni One will also come to Europe. Currently, only the Virtuix Omni and KAT VR treadmills are available in Europe. As soon as there is more information about an expected delivery of the Omni One to Europe, we will share more information here.
